- I don't know if you are still interesting but I found this thread googling something on the line of 'steam macos catalina', I installed the beta last night and Steam wasn't working anymore. I just deleted the Steam.app folder in /Application, downloaded the client again and everything seems to be working just fine:).

Depending on the game and whether your computer supports USB3 you may want to try installing Mojave to an external USB3 drive and running the game externally. https://immofree.mystrikingly.com/blog/cd-face-label.
